The last pieces of the Weston family puzzle are slowly coming into place. Shortly after Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch was announced to play as Little Charles Aiken, the name of Sam Shepard surfaced to play the role of Beverly Weston, husband to Meryl Streep’s character, Violet.
According to Variety, Sam Shepard is courted to play the patriarch of the Weston family. His screen credits include Crimes of the Heart, Steel Magnolias, Black Hawk Down and The Notebook. He was nominated for an Oscar for his supporting turn in The Right Stuff.
Shepard is joining the stellar ensemble of Streep, Roberts, Cooper, Lewis, Breslin, Martindale, Mulroney and Cumberbatch.
Filming is set to start in September in Oklahoma.
